It can be a little bit of the chicken or the egg, which one came first. One thing for certain, we must have both a thorough risk assessment & a conversation with the stakeholder where we are listening 80+% of the time. Here's the dilemma; do we listen first and take the chance that the conversation will influence our assessment, or do we risk conducting our assessment first, with there being a likelihood we will have to reevaluate some areas after the conversation? I tend to default to the latter, but that can change depending on the situation, the personality I'm working with, & time constraints. I want the relationship to be one of positivity & partnership. Once complete, we begin planning & prioritizing a customized plan.
