Most of the organizations don't ask for prior experience but its good to have product mindset and understanding and have prototype projects build to showcase your product skills and looks for your abilities in driving and owning by yourself.

People usually think getting or switching into product is the hardest as they don’t have product experience. However, one can become an APM in a number of ways, even without any product manger experience.
