How do you become a broker?

This will give you credibility to both new lenders you onboard and new clients. - build your core offering, and do it well. It's better to be extremely effective in your niche than to be alright at a lot of areas.

To become a broker, first, learn about finance, investments, or real estate. In your business development role, work on projects involving negotiations and deal-making. Get good at talking with people and understanding market trends. If needed, get the required licenses for your industry. Show that you can connect buyers with sellers and help them make successful deals. As you get better at these skills, you'll find yourself becoming a broker, assisting clients in navigating different markets and achieving favorable outcomes.

Choosing a broker niche is the initial crucial step. Options like real estate, mortgage, insurance, stock, and business brokerage exist, each with unique requirements and opportunities. Research market demand, competition, and income potential in each niche to align with your skills, interests, and goals. Personally - I chose FINRA.

Decide if you have the time, resources and resilience to handle lots of leads versus fewer good quality. Someone once told me ‘You have to kiss a lot of frogs!’

Your clients are your best advert. Always ask first feedback and referrals. Never stop learning,attend industry events and utilise the experience of others around you. You will be surprised how many people in your chosen industry enjoy helping others.
