In my opinion, the budget should be reviewed every Quarter. No matter how meticulous your planning is, there are things which come up unplanned: unforeseen expenses, increase in costs, cost avoidance, cost reduction etc. Reviewing the budget every quarter helps to take such things into account and reforecast for the remainder of the year. Along with that, one should also look at the variances every month, in order to remain on track and correct course whenever needed.

In my opinion, an office budget should be reviewed quarterly at most, if not every 6 months. During that time you can see a rise or fall in revenue/sales etc, and staff numbers. You also have to factor in things that aren't related to the money coming in. Such as office moves, possible hiring plans, capacity of your employees working day. All of these things make a difference to the way of working, the people that work for you and the environment they're in.

For example stationary purchases are highest in January....One might argue it's the beginning of the year stock up, when in actual fact an Organisation is unknowingly carrying the stationary burden of Employees in school and even Employees' children.
