How do you create an inclusive team?

I am very much in favour of having an open honest relationship with my Co workers. I try to be collaborative wherever possible ... I have found that in doing so we talk the same language, everyone's opinion is heard and together we make great decisions where we are all aiming in the same direction.

In my experience, I Encourage open and transparent communication among team members. Create an atmosphere where individuals feel comfortable expressing their ideas and concerns without fear of judgment or reprisal.

In my team I am keen to create an environment where people can work collaboratively. I encourage the sharing of practice by bringing the team together to problem solve areas of concern. Everyone at these workshops has a voice and we share achievements, best practice and issues. By doing so the team begins to understand one another and seek out experts in areas to develop themselves. I am proud of how my team work individually and together.

Transparency is key to success! A team will always accomplish more than an individual can. Collectively, the desired outcome will be executed with effeciency; by how well we can work together, as a unit.

It is evident from the theory and practical approach of effective management tools that an open co working environment can achieve more than what is expected out of a business process. If every stakeholders are offered to place their honest opinions regarding betterment of any of the processes to be followed , it creates an environment of trust , self confidence and more diligent work atmosphere which leads to an inclusive work experience for all.

Communication in transparent way is very important. speed of communication also matter. situations keep changing and all team members should be well aware of new dynamics as all are working for same mission so its imperative that smooth flow of communication is practiced among all stakeholders and team members.

Include the staff in establishing expectations and contributions. A team approach to determining responsibility and expectations breeds a mutual investment

Simplicity is key. As well as delivery of information. How you say it will have more impact than what you are saying. -------------need to fill more characters apparently to meet min word requirement 8-)

Communicating effectively is crucial to building strong relationships with clients or colleagues. Pay close attention to what other people are saying. Use clear and straightforward language when communicating with clients and others. Avoid complex terms that may confuse people. Maintain a professional and respectful tone when interacting with others. Being courteous and respectful goes a long way in establishing trust and credibility.

For me inclusion and inclusivity comes for delegation and a bottoms up approach. Communication from the top should not be hurtled down and the team members should not only be there to endorse the idea from the top. Encouragement, specially for those who are lowest rung, and seldom open their mouth, fearing official hierarchies should be allowed to share their views without inhibitions.

You need to probe something in order to get a datapoint to measure. There is always a "best fit" or "qualified" individual who should be used at times to facilitate this engagement more naturally for general engagement purposes.

This is important as we need participation of all members. each team member has their own strengths and for a team to succeed everyone needs to contribute with their ideas and work. team that works together achieves far more better results by way of collaboration and equal contributions from all team members.

It is also important to create environments where communication can be free flowing, judgement free, and include positive reinforcement such as acknowledgement of individual contribution. People who often want to contribute at the lower level are often encumbered by the various channels to have their feedback/ideas heard, leadership involvement is important as a result.

In a former life, I worked with people in multiple countries across the globe, on different time zones, with different backgrounds, cultures, religions, et cetera. Through this I learned that inclusivity really is quite simple: Let people be who they are, and encourage them to be just so. How you do this will look different for each person and each culture, but what remains at the what’s the heart of inclusivity is allowing people to be themselves without fear. Fear of unsafety, fear of reprimand, fear of anything. Encourage expression, individuality, collaboration, cooperation, and communication; and inclusivity will follow.

Everyone or EveryOne, or every one; is actually part of a single unit; it's in the name. EVERY (person is) ONE (unit/ team). This has to come from the top and be reflected in your decisions.

Differences currently (and quite frequently) develop gaps and empty space between 2 points (persons). Differences also allow innovation to thrive because differences offer a variable (perspective/s) in a conversation (format). Accepting and managing our differences simply allows the identification of problem areas or concerns at a much higher rate; and once identified we can then start on a plan for strategic modifications or change. Simple!

Is very important to highlight that diversity and inclusion is not about numbers e.g. "how many woman we have in our Board" or "how many black people we hired this year" but about how we are allowed to bring our history and thoughts to the table, which means we do not have to adapt and think like hetero, white, neurotypical, white males to fit and be heard. We all bring something to the table and have unique abilities which may take our organization to the next level, THIS IS INCLUSION!

The enemy of inclusion is micromanagement and workplace bullying. Unfortunately these two types of managers aren’t aware of their undesirable traits and those who work under them are too fearful to call out these behaviours. No employee can thrive and grow under these types of managers - or feel free to contribute to team building and development ideas.

Creating an inclusive team involves valuing diversity, fostering open communication, providing equal opportunities, and promoting a respectful environment where everyone's perspectives are acknowledged and valued. It's important to establish clear anti-discrimination policies, offer diversity training, and encourage collaboration among team members. Regularly seeking feedback and addressing concerns can help ensure that everyone feels heard and included.
