1. Start by clearly describing the objectives. Then, break down your objective into "deliverables" (in scientific circles this is called "creating hypotheses"). 2. For each hypothesis to be proven, write a statistical test that could be done or even a KPI that could be calculated. 3. Now: start an exploratory analysis. Your evaluation will be guided by the previous hypotheses and measuring data quality will be much easier! 4. Use and abuse frequency tables (for numerical and nominal variables). With them you can catch outliers or typos very quickly!

Choose between primary data, gathered firsthand, or secondary data from existing sources, ensuring it aligns with your research needs. Key to this step is ensuring data reliability, validity, and representativeness of your target population. A common pitfall in scientific research during data collection is bias, which can skew results and diminish the study's credibility. In my experience, precisely laying out the objectives is key. One must ask: "What is it that I need to study?". After rigorous and quality data collection, I tend to format and clean my data so that all of it is immediately accessible and observable from one place. Pandas in Python is great for this. Next, I observe trends by plotting every possible combination of variables to get a holistic view (Pyplot, matplotlib). This helps in spotting something unexpected or incorrect in the data. If that's not the case, I question my data on why certain trends are observed and find out the reasons behind them. The last step is to use polished visualizations and a straightforward narrative to make your results easy to understand and act on.

Never throw data away if it doesn't line up with your expectations. Some of the most interesting findings can come from this "rubbish" or "unexpected" data. Even during my PhD research, I had a result that initially made no logical sense until I dug deeper and realized it was an incredible outcome. At first, I didn't think much of it and repeated the analysis expecting a more "reasonable" result but it turned out to be better than any trend I was initially expecting to identify.
