In my experience, SW also need to be careful with the language they use. I have seen situations where, client didn’t understand the context or the content of the conversation. However, they didn’t want to look silly in the from of others. I had a client once who would say yes to all things. The detremental impact of saying yes to all things was that, the client did not receive the best care package they could have had.

I wouldn't forget to analyze potential critical life situations where communication with the outside world is important. For example, receiving a call from a courier, setting a meeting with a doctor, or calling an ambulance. These situations generally require a higher level of support.

In my experience, it is important that Social workers can collaborate with clients and their networks to provide excellent service delivery by working together to identify the client's unique needs and strengths, and developing solutions that best match those needs. By taking a collaborative approach, social workers can help clients tap into their own strengths and resources, while also building trust and rapport with their support networks. Additionally, involving clients and their networks in the service delivery process helps ensure that services are tailored to meet their specific needs and preferences, and can lead to more successful outcomes.

Peer support has been something that I have always relied upon. I once linked a family with another family in the community that had just recently traveled down the same path but I went further. I ended up linking both families with my own Mom as she had went through the same diagnosis only she faced it when she was a young child without the medical advances we have now. She was able to educate the families on what to do if they were without something, as she did not have some the advances in the beginning and had to learn other ways to cope.

I agree and also highlight the importance of social workers reviewing interventions to make certain they are individualized and not population driven. Many disabled clients and their support systems share similar challenges. Therefore, an individualized treatment plan is imperative to ensure the client is receiving treatment that is consistent with their expectations.
