The advice given here is good enough. But all these words can end up obscuring what is the essential problem in our schools: there is contempt for knowledge, for learning information and facts because they're interesting. Let's teach all the things that are easy to teach. Tell the kids what you want them to know. That's called direct instruction. Believe it or not, our education experts frown on direct instruction. I think you have to make it real. Give students problem and project based learning experiences. Don't just share information. Get them involved with hands on activities.

I agree with Mark. STEAM must be hands on where students link theory with practice in designing and developing real life skills and products. This will reveal critical thinking and creativity which is believed to be the aim of STEAM. For students to develop these skills, they must be given an environment full of the necessary resources, human (teachers) and materials to use to design and develop engines and other useful products in real life.
