I agree. Establishing clear goals is one thing that is very important, but communicating those goals with the participants is also very vital.  It is crucial to establish before a training even begins what the trainer and trainees should anticipate from the training.

Before Planning for the Virtual session, always do a demo session with the core team to understand the practical difficulties that may come during the session. Plan the session based on the assessments and feedback of the demo session. Set clear agenda and communicate well before the session. Before the conclusion of every session, give a quick recap of the topics discussed during the session and make the participants to recall the topics and make them give a brief explanation of their understanding by this way the learnings are reinforced and if they have any doubts that will be cleared. Always share a handout or presentation or guides or exercise files after the session, it will be helpful for them to have quick reference anytime after the session

The idea that training is a never-ending process is something I strongly support. After a training session is over, another avenue of learning about what went well and what needs better opens up. In order to improve the next one, all these insights must be taken into consideration.

One way I check if a training session (live or virtual) is successful is by asking participants to share one or two actionable takeaways. I ask them what they will do differently after the training. To ensure the training is effective, I keep the group size small, especially for virtual sessions. This allows me to check individually with each participant on what they plan to change after the training.
