A thing I have found helpful is reading news and blogs from Finextra, The FinTech Times, FinTech Futures, and The Paypers. Subscribe to Newsletters for essential updates delivered directly to you. Recommended Newsletters are The Future of Banking, CB Insights FinTech Insights, and Daily Fintech. It is helpful also to follow influential figures on Social Media and if possible attend events such as Money 20/20 and Finovate.

Keeping pace with FinTech best practices involves continuous learning through research, online courses, and certifications. Industry involvement, such as attending conferences, joining professional associations, and networking, is crucial for gaining insights and staying updated. Monitoring regulatory changes and ensuring compliance, along with collaborating with the FinTech ecosystem and exploring technology trends, contributes to a comprehensive strategy. By fostering partnerships, staying current with technology, and actively participating in the FinTech community, professionals can adapt to evolving industry standards and maintain a competitive edge.

You should take a two-phased approach: (1) keep an eye on leading national outlets (e.g., Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg), and (2) identify subject matter experts who have active newsletters (e.g., Simon Taylor). Many other outlets - and there are far too many blogs - are neither deep nor from a position of expertise.

Identify active contributors on LinkedIn and follow what they're saying. Simon Taylor is one of the leading voices through his Brain Food newsletter, so start there and engage with the community that posts and comments on those articles. You'll notice a pattern! You need to discern the people who just talk about it, and the people who actively practice in FinTech (and share their experiences).

There are few agreed upon standards; FinTech is still, perhaps surprisingly, quite a new field. There are, however, plenty of regulations that the OCC, Fed, and FDIC have established, so the best place to look is their policy guidance documents often through their website or the Federal Registry if you anticipate high involvement in this space.

There are a wide array of consumer FinTech tools, so it's worth playing around with some of them if you want to build a career in this space. You can start small with services like Wealthfront, and build up to the more sophisticated tools that reside in the DeFi space. Crypto, however, is its own world of digital finance, so start first with identifying what is out there in the traditional finance space.
