The financial ratios are the key the but more important is the composition of those line items. One more way to look at this, is what you are spending for running of the business and what you are spending for the future. This is another way to ensure that you in for the long run !!

Using the various data sources does help in making one understand where the product stands vis a vis competition. However, the data points have their limitations. One needs to dig deep and needs to be agile to get the better of the competition. Consumer insights (need, wants, purchase points, etc) need to be studied in depth. Once we arrive at knowing the opportunities and gaps, we must be agile to grab the opportunity or gaps with all our arsenal (product innovations, new launches, etc.) This will aid in driving a more profitable P&L.
