In my experience, the comparison between baseline and actual dates is fundamental for project time management. Baseline dates arise from thorough planning, while actual dates reflect the project's real-time progress. Discrepancies between them indicate if the project is on track, ahead, or behind schedule. Analyzing these differences allows project managers to identify why variances occurred: was it due to unexpected challenges or efficient resource use? Understanding these nuances not only assists in current project evaluation but also refines future project estimations. Monitoring these dates continuously equips managers with insights for timely corrective actions, ensuring the project remains aligned with its objectives.
