If you're a newcomer to your field, understand that imposter syndrome is a natural experience. It's okay to feel nervous or that you don't belong when you're in a room full of experts. Acknowledging that you feel nervous and placeless is the first step to overcoming those feelings. The more conferences you go to, the more normal and natural it will feel. I can say that from experience as, this summer, I was the only undergraduate student presenting research at an international conference of experts. Thankfully I had my mentor there for support, but the nervousness was there and that's okay. I felt great after the conference ended and people followed up with me about my research. All it takes is getting your foot in to walk forward.
