Suspense is usually created one of two ways. Either by showing the audience something the character does not know, thus creating tension as the audience watches and waits for the character to learn/realize this info. Or, it is by NOT showing the audience a key piece of information. It could be what is behind the camera, or behind the character, or around the corner. What is UNSEEN. So think about transitions with perhaps this in mind. Can I use a transition to show the audience something new? Or can I use it to NOT show them something? Then you can find the technique to use afterwards. But first define HOW you want to create suspense in your story...
