Tools are necessary and helpful. But they are just that, a tool. A tool should never be in the way of your delivery. Use tools to enhance your delivery and help you perform and to see things you may not be able to. But beware, once you adapt to using a hammer efficiently, everything will start to look like a nail.

I was on a lecture this week the professor mentioned that even Excel can be used to manage project, as much as I don't like encouraging that kind of thought I had to give it some credit since the choice of tools to be used depend a lot on the complexity of the project and maturity of the team. Give preference to tools that fosters communication, transparency and have a clear workflow. A shared Excel may work but it's hardly the best choice.

In addition to daily standups, consider incorporating a "micro-retrospective" at the end of each meeting. This can be a quick, one-minute session where team members share what went well and what could be improved from the previous day. This continuous feedback loop can help identify small issues before they become bigger problems and can keep the team more engaged and proactive. By making slight adjustments daily, rather than waiting for the end of a sprint, you can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of your work.

Daily meetings are often criticized for not adding value to the process. However, a well-conducted daily meeting helps maintain smooth workflow and removes roadblocks before they occur. Think of it like a vaccine: some believe its effectiveness is evident when issues don't arise, while others may question its necessity. For remote teams, where contact is limited due to the nature of the work model, daily meetings become even more crucial.

By regularly reflecting and adapting you enable continuous improvement. The is a key to outperforming your competition. Always strive to be better as a team and as individuals. Learn and grow together. Try new things that you agree might help improve as a team. Experiment together. Reflect and adapt again once you have received some data and outcomes from those experiments. The world is constantly changing and we must always adapt.

Encoraje a reflexão regular e a adaptação dos processos. Realize retrospectivas no final de cada sprint para discutir o que funcionou bem e o que pode ser melhorado. Use essas sessões para ajustar as práticas de trabalho e melhorar a eficiência da equipe.
