The key to be able to deal with changes is to communicate, yes you do have to understand the change, however the most important is that your organisation understands the impact as well so you can act on it together. Adjusting the budget and strategy comes from business assessment and working on new approach. All the businesses went through this situation when the Covid started, this have tested the businesses and the teams.

Whether they choose to pay attention to what your saying or not is on them.

As a financial manager our strategy should not change, but our goals may. Our strategy is just our plan to achieve the goals. If the market has changed, like in covid, we may need to assist the goals to new realistic numbers and communicate often. People understand things happen and as long as you work to find a viable solution, they will usually understand. Fear happens when we don't know things. So we can calm their fears by giving them relevant information and solutions. Our fiduciary responsibility always needs to be our top priority and while folks understand there are risks in investments, if they understand the things you are doing to mitigate there's or keep them informed, it will keep many fears at bay.
