Something I discovered while analyzing data is the importance of using structured thinking while doing it, recognizing any problem or situation by organizing the available data or harvesting new useful data in order to reveal gaps and opportunities in order to identify the potential actions needed to be taken. No matter how many question you ask about your data, more is always better.

If I want to use data and analytics to shape my design career, I would start by acquiring skills in data analysis and user research to understand market trends, user behaviors, and effectiveness of design solutions. Then, I would integrate these insights into my design process, making data-driven decisions to create more impactful and user-centered designs.

Drawing upon my academic background, I recognized the importance of robust data collection methods. I meticulously gathered diverse data sources, including user feedback, market trends, and design metrics, leveraging my statistical expertise to ensure data accuracy and relevance.

You can conduct qualitative and quantitative data in order to get some interesting findings to your design. The first to note is that both can be used together but I think that you need to be ready to use your critical thinking in every research. I want to say that with qualitative research you are more human oriented because you show that you care about the emotions and the ways people address pain points. But with quantitative data, you can get some insights that are more accurate on number like conducting a competitive analysis, you will get many numbers and impressions from the competitors. But on both sides, you can gain valuable insights for your design.

The thing that's helped me on every level and part of life, including learning how important data is to everyone, is being able to connect more with others (people, thoughts, animals, places, feelings etc). The biggest struggle has been overcoming the obstacles (many due to my own mindset) that were preventing me from being able to do this. Physical and mental health challenges (for many reasons) were often the root cause of the stopping point, but it was my own mind that ended up being the one thing that truly helped me move forward with greater focus and ability.

As designers, we have a responsibility to ensure that our work respects user privacy, promotes inclusivity, and avoids perpetuating harmful stereotypes or biases. For example, in many cases, it is essential to understand that there are changes that should be based on the modernity of the app. For that, you need to conduct a secondary research that your team may already stored for you. That should be a foundation that will help you build something more modern for the users. You may check the feedback from the users so you can use them to create something more helpful. You can also check some design on platforms and articles in order to understand in a better way the modernity around the design you need to create. But in all changes you want to bring, be ready to bring the accessibility approaches in every stage of your design.

Iterate Designs: Use the insights gained to iterate on your designs. Implement changes based on data-driven decisions and monitor their impact on key metrics. Continuously test and refine your designs to optimize their effectiveness over time.

Knowing how to read data is really something valuable for a great designer. The way you create your design is based on your audience. That's really essential in order to create something unique to the market. In my experience, some people are amazed when you say that it's not just about creativity, it's also about the way your use the data in your hand. For that, you need to have a critical thinking and also learn how to communicate with people. If you get the data, you need to communicate the data. There are many ways to communicate data but you also need to learn the adaptability skills that are helping you to understand the team you work with.

Tools and methods are changing constantly, but some things stay the same. Learning SQL is always important. The syntax is useful in a variety of tools, such as ArcGIS Pro.

One thing to consider is using design principles to create compelling narratives with data, guiding users through insights and findings in a clear and engaging manner. One book worth reading is Information Dashboard Design by Stephen Few.

It is crucial to know and understand the different tools used for data analysis. As SQL, SSIS, Tableau, Python,SSAS, Power BI.
