I'd emphasize the importance of networking events, both within and outside the organization, and guide them on effective ways to leverage platforms like LinkedIn. Additionally, I'd encourage them to participate in industry forums or webinars, where they can showcase their skills and connect with professionals. Coaching them to take ownership of their networking efforts ensures they not only gain valuable connections but also develop essential networking skills for their future career.

What would you do if your HR internship is not helping you build your network? Assess the internship goals/requirements and check if you are meeting them all. Talk to internship coordinator and your mentor about it. Listen to their advise. Tell them about your intentions of networking and how it would benefit the company and yourself. So a mix of influential team members plus executives with the political capital who sit at the decision making table are persons who you should get to know and learn from. Whenever you have the ear of these people, ask great questions and share your own thoughts and ideas! They will more than likely take a keen interest in you.

Being in an organisation when one create internal networks, it helps automatically to connect with outside professionals as well.
