What do you do if your organization's digital transformation initiatives are stalling?

Helping many clients, I would rate the organization culture followed by lack of skills as the most common reasons for digital transformation (DT) failure. There are others such as lack of communication, organization misalignment, technology that didn’t produce the outcome desired and budget constraint. My seven pieces of advice: Look at the strategy to check if the business goals are aligned to your DT outcomes; Make sure your management team are on board especially middle managers; Communicate to make sure the team understand the goals. Also, celebrate especially the quick wins; Look at the skills roadmap to see if you have all the resource needed. Agile culture helps to improve collaboration. Governance and metrics aligned to the DT.

Sharing my own experience here's what we can implement and can jumpstart it better before : Diagnose the stall ( First of all ) : Is it unclear goals, lack of resources or resistance to any change? we should Identify the roadblocks. Reignite leadership buy-in: Remind execs of the benefits & create a clear vision for the future Focus on quick wins: Implement small, achievable goals to build momentum & showcase the value. Bridge the skills gap: Invest in training to ensuring our team has the capabilities needed for the new technologies. Foster open communication: Address concerns, answer questions & keep everyone informed of progress. Get everyone on board, address roadblocks & we can drive digital transformation speed again!

When assessing the causes of a stalling digital transformation, it's vital to include an analysis of company culture and leadership commitment. The Digital Transformation is the answer to business requirements: realign goals consequentially to an analysis of the company targets is mandatory. Changes come from the bottom and involving all the possible contributors that are on the Dev Ops side of the business is for sure the best thing to do. Extremely effective is segmenting the targets in two main branches: the first one is on how to fill the internal gaps that make the digital transformation weak and the second one is on check the effective changes of the customer base needs.Starting form the points above, the choice of the most flexible technology in terms of cost/maintenance/performance will work as glue between the effective internal capabilities and the clients satisfaction.

Upgrading technology is meant to be a mantra to be always on the verge of your business. We live an era where AI is leading the wave of clients’ engagement and segmentation and an Industry Leader must have clear in mind that AI is just a tool: no AI without NI (Natural Intelligence), that’s my motto! So upgrading is not making the right choice of a new trending tool, but must be founded on a coherent assets’ reorganization adopting a flexible technology, easily scalable and cloud based. Build proprietary assets core owning the code intellectual property and around them let grow up al the other services, integrating external tools as well, so to be not depending by software providers: if they fails, your company must survive!

I've observed that disengaged staff often hesitate to embrace digital transformation because they lack clarity on the straightforward steps that can infuse businesses with curiosity, energy, and excitement for innovation. To make innovation more appealing and approachable across the board, companies should champion a process-oriented mindset and provide training in process mapping. What i have seen for myself in my organization is that digital transformation got stalled or was not picking up pace as the stakeholders nominated from our organisation and the developers/team hired were not making good team. What went wrong was that people who were not keen for change were nominated for driving technological innovation by virtue of their appointment from our organisation, similarly the external developers/ agency hired were also not following it up vigorously. This combination led to missing timelines and finally aborting our digital transformation. So selection of people to drive digital innovation is very important and dont just nominate people by virtue of their position, rather attitude and aptitude be considered.
