Don't move upward for the wrong reasons. Make sure that it is a job that fits not only your skills set, but also your interest. Leadership can be lonely and you need to feel confident in your beliefs and that the role aligns with your vision and values. Sometimes, patience and trusting that the right role will come along pays huge dividends. It is a fine line between getting a leadership role and getting the right leadership role. Trust in your ability, keep projecting and the right opportunity will come along.

Sometimes, a slight pivot in direction can make all the difference. Take a step back and reassess your goals. Are they still aligned with your values and aspirations? Stay flexible, stay focused, and keep chasing those dreams! 💪

In my life I have always found that taking in interest in people has an unmeasurable impact. Meeting the right person at the right time can change the course of your entire life. What’s important to remember is that keeping your connections can set your career progression down many paths for years to come. As we gain new experiences in different roles it open more doors to make new relationships. I have found teachers, mentors, employees, managers, business partners, and employment offers all through keeping in touch with people I have met along the way.

This is one thing I always do for my managers. I give them the chance to be seen by senior management when the situation allows. I give them talking points for meetings, wins/impact made in house they can discuss when there are high level visits, and what to communicate to who to discuss intentions or future aspirations with. There is always a strategic opportunity to be visible for those who utilize the right moments. Sometimes a combination of hard work, luck, and being seen by the right person can be life changing.

I hate talking about myself and campaigning like I'm a politician. I think serving others gives you that visibility, the key here is to do it selflessly. Put your talent, experience and knowledge at the service of others, do it with the intention of empowering people who have not had the same opportunities as you. I learned from Covey about the 4 cores of credibility, and I remember that having an abundance mentality over a scarcity mentality helps build trust

For my promotion to seem out of reach, a problem is definitely present! And as such identifying that problem comes first. If my problem is as a result of lack of skill. Then an UPSKILL program will be a good way to start. If my problem is as a result of my network. Then it's obvious I'll need to build better and stronger connections. If my problem is as a result of time. Then being patient and working smart is going to get me there eventually.

If you feel it's out of reach, drill down. Ask yourself why you feel it's out of reach. What are the reasons. Write them down. Then identify what's within your control and influence and focus on those things. Semantics also matter. Instead of focusing on it being out reach, change your perspective to one that's more inline what what you WANT to achieve vs. what you DON'T want to happen. Change that "it's out of reach" to "what do I need to further prepare myself for that next role."

Promotion is a misnomer. If it just means titles and salary increase then sometimes it may lead to frustration and out of reach However assess your progress and feedback ..if you are progressing gradually getting more responsibility then you are in the right direction. Direction and process is important than just outcomes alone . Be patient
