Well this type of question gauges what level of long term planning and preparation you may have for your own career. If this is asked by someone who holds the position you are gunning for, it may become an answer that is too honest. I would answer this question based on what is becoming more and more important in the industry or market place. So the accounting profession is one of those areas that can be affected by artificial intelligence. I would say that five years from now accounting will be more affected by new technologies. So anyone who wants to continue to thrive in this industry should be aware of the areas that human accountants can still make a difference and also create more value than software agents. Being prepared is best.

Plan for success. Successful people have dreams and specific goals. When I graduated my MBA, my goal was to become a CFO in 10 years. I achieved it in 7 years. Yes, having a goal, especially a written goal, is powerful. It goes in our unsubconcious mind.
