Being overly conscious was probably a result of a bad experience in the past where the person was ridiculed or castigated for speaking up. Getting over this requires prayers and practice. We all can speak so it us just how we do it that matters. Diction, accent and word choices are natural output of where you came from. Embrace the diversity and just keep on talking! You may need to trace past...our classmates may humiliated during presentation while school this sort of memories will lie in you which will be a fact pulling us back... Counseling and help of a coach or mentor will help you to desensitize such emotions.

No war in won inside a day. It's only through consistent efforts one achieves success in life. Similarly, in order to overcome the fear of public speaking, one needs to work upon himself / herself and prepare to face the audience. Easier said than done! Yes, the very first step in this direction is through building skills required for effective public speaking. This can be achieved through mentorship under a vivacious speaker, taking part in workshops which focus on public speaking and practicing voice modulation and building contact with audience. Practice is one of the best way to improve presentation skill. Stand up in a room imagine there are audience and start practice the topics.. You may join to the speakers club such as Junior Chamber International, Toast Masters etc it will provide you more presentation opportunities....

Maintain eye contact, use gestures, and ask questions to involve your audience. Ask colleagues or mentors to provide feedback on your presentations and areas for improvement.

Provide a piece of paper to audience and let them provide you an anonymous feedback without scribble their names. it will help to get both positive and negative feed backs. Please always keep in mind that they are criticizing or providing feedback to the speech note to the speaker so nothing to take personal.....

Be nervous. It's normal, natural and it's your body giving you a boost of adrenalin to perform better. After 10 years of public speaking, I still get nervous. I've learned it's better not to expect perfection. Refer to you notes. Pause. Ask "What else did I want to cover here?". Be human. You'll connect with the audience. Practice a great opening and awesome close. Everything else will flow. Know you've got this!

Prepare and practice, especially the opening and closing. Know what you want your audience to take away. Identify 3-4 individuals spread throughout the audience space that give you positive vibes and focus directly on them until you are more relaxed. (Maybe plant those friendly allies)

Do more of them! Face the fear. Embrace the fact that no one was perfect at the begining. Do the homework, practice and speak as often until you got it in your tool box. Practice makes perfect. Dont give up
