However, we can also use simulation development to create realistic models of how the innovation might perform in different environments. I consider participating in processes like this a golden opportunity for risk professionals. If you've reached this level, you're probably a trusted advisor to the organization. I always say, if you sit at the project table, make contributions. I suggest thinking optimistically about innovation! Do not enter into risk assessment pessimistically, but with a realistic mindset. Thinking “Yes, this project is viable” presupposes that you have gone through all the “No, this project is not viable” analyses. Understand the real impacts, provide safe mitigation alternatives. Be a maestro and seek to demonstrate a transversal view of risk, which may involve reputation, regulation, information security, data privacy, legal issues, etc.
