No doubt top priority should be accorded to plastic recycling. Converting them into furniture is one among the many options available today. One of the major reasons for flooding (as witnessed in the recent past in Chennai) is the clogging of plastic refuse in major waterways. Simple actions like source segregation could help solve this problem. It's everybody's knowledge today but not executed effectively. A Massive movement is needed. Hence, substantial investments of time and assets available under CSR should be spent on creating awareness and training at different levels.

Plastic Whale a really smart way to not just reuse but build smart awareness on so many C-suite levels. 1. sustainable experiences where you dig out plastic from the canals (wow, really? so much plastic in our rivers? kind of awareness and do-good factor and fun activity) 2. amazing circular design where the most beautiful furniture is crafted (from that plastic) 3. charging a big surplus on that furniture which is put in the most exclusive C-suite meeting rooms with pride. The beauty of the design, the circularity and sustainability of furniture that fills your key board rooms showing with pride that you care AND the experience of having "fished the materials" of your furniture from rivers experience. Really smart circular design !

En Argentina, la compañía productora de papel Ledesma apuesta a un nuevo negocio en la fabricación de papel a partir de pulpa termomoldeada. Comienzan a producir vajilla descartable a partir de la caña de azúcar, lo que representa una alternativa sustentable al plástico de un solo uso, ya que son reciclables, biodegradables y compostables. El proceso es el mismo que realizan con la caña de azucar: utitilizando la misma pulpa que emplean en la fabricación de cuadernos. Paper production requires large amounts of resources and out of them trees and water take centre stage for me personally. Green friendly companies in many countries are using alternatives and encouraging the communtiy to follow their initiatives. It is something we are working on in Sri Lanka, so that resources and the environment can be preserved for the future generations. So let's all join and do our part and help produce paper that can be used for book, printing, etc. Let's do our part to save resources... especially forests and water 🌳💧

This is a perfect example of circularity. An organisation called Khalamkush in Ahmedabad, Gujarat receives cotton fabric waste from textile industries and creates handmade paper out of it. To top it up, all the government offices of Gujarat use files made from this paper.

Creating food compost needs to be as accessible as plastic recycling. The challenge here is the cost of collecting the food waste and the revenue generated by the compost. Our government will need to create incentives for companies recycling food waste and incentives for companies buying the compose products (ex: fertilizer) to off set the cost. This model would work for food plants that generate vast amounts of waste. In regards to restaurants, they do not produce an enough food waste to off set the cost hauling the food waste. They will need a sophisticated logical network set up with several restaurants and likely transfer stations in order to successfully solve this problem. It is doable however it will take commitment

I believe we should 1st start to segregate food and waste I don’t see this practice implemented in many households hence anything should start from home and than it creates higher impact on overall societal practice. Having said that I do practice this and create my own compost which is black gold my plants enjoy. Hope we all practice same at our home.

In Africa a model that communities represented by women use is to exchange food for old clothes that they then use in other markets to earn a living. In my experience of managing a waste management awareness cum sensitization education project across 15000+ schools across 20 States and UTs in India, we were able to introduce several DIY activities using PET and household generated waste materials. We were able to undertake 1) Best out of waste products - both for decorative purposes and also utility purposes. 2) STEM models - using various dry waste and pet/plastic waste students as well as teachers developed various models both working and demonstrative type. 3) Teaching and Learning materials - various wastes were used to develop TLMs used for class room teachings and learning by students. Including FLN The project is a testimony to innovation and creativity in multiple ways.

In my experience I have witnessed youth for recycle plastic waste using the PET bottle and other natural animal catalyst to turn it into a cheap organic fertilizer. Companies can promote the principle of a circular economy by selling such organic products that contribute to environmental management. Small holder farmers can also contribute to climate mitigation by using such fertilizers that are not harmful to the environment

First, minimizing activities that leave a lot of waste that cannot be reprocessed. Second, conducting an environmental development program with micro, small and medium enterprises which located around the company's location to process waste into goods that can be reused. Later, the processed products can be a source of income for the community whose distribution or can be sold to people in need with a cooperation scheme between the Company, the Community and can involve the Vocational Training Center.

One way that you can repurpose materials within an office environment is to collect old containers and planters that employees will plan to dispose of. You can then turn these into a vertical garden or "green wall" within the office space, which will reduce waste, capture carbon and improve air quality.
