Let's see if I understood the question correctly. The point of concern is ''researching entrepreneurship''. The subject related to reliable research has been addressed wonderfully by other contributors. In general, academics are good at finding reliable sources of information as it is part of their training. But they lack the skills to be an entrepreneur. Looking at the current scenario where the research-based industry is booming, academics must have entrepreneurial skills. The lack of skills to understand entrepreneurship is an issue that needs to be addressed.

The one major challenge to entrepreneurs is the rapid advancements in technology and market dynamics. There is no time for entrepreneurs to get acquainted and develop full knowledge of the rapidly evolving technologies and the dynamics of the market to situate their products in the context of a stable market environment.

There are fewer hands on entrepreneurs are offering trainings or giving out much practical advice. I knew a young lady who wanted to be an entrepreneur, she went to school and took courses which she passed. But has 3 failed businesses

Defining a specific research focus within the broad field of entrepreneurship can be difficult. Clearly outline research objectives, identify gaps in existing literature, and focus on a manageable aspect of entrepreneurship.

As a sociologist who has researched about entrepreneurship, I would add that this is a social activity where various research approaches are useful for understanding its complexity. In my case, I have researched precarious entrepreneurship and it is fascinating to look at it from a sociocultural perspective. Things that in particular I found interesting include the ways in which culture and idiosyncrasies shape the entrepreneurial mindset. Social capital is also a great topic within the precarious entrepreneurship domain, how socioemotional assets within a social group mediate in a project outcome or in the ways it can foster/restrain entrepreneurial resilience.
