Showing that robots can make life easier, safer and more enjoyable for users is the most important in changing the perception around robotics.

In my opinion it's not robots that should be regulated but the developers and maintainers. A robot is just a tool/solution for a problem/job. It is up to the developers how it solves the tasks put in front of it. There is of course nuance to accountability here but unethical practices in the development process of robotics should be controlled, because they will happen.

Or will we strive to embellish our robots with humor, personality and soul to accompany their skill set? Is the human experience with the robot as equally important as the service the robot is meant to provide?

Robotics should no more be a cliche like being a buzzword for normal human interaction other than scientists. Sustainable & eco-friendly robotics for everyday human interaction is to be introduced to real crowd in order to study the social interactions. Energy utilised by the robots should be green fuel, so people don’t mind maintaining them. A custom made, non-chip, offline based, non-data collection model that is not easily evolutionary, low cost, easily maintainable, demographically targeted designs are to be introduced for basic household utility in order to increase the efficiency of productivity rather than manufacturing industrial applications. This will create a revolution in use of robots.
