Indeed, once the vision and values of the organisation have been determined, a painstakingly thorough recruitment process is necessary in order to ensure that a winning team of passionate, competent and consistent professionals can be built, developed and retained through competent and humane leadership.

My experience as a lead, creating a culture of innovation needs a mindset change to start with, recognize and reiterate till it the way we work. Leveraging the right leads to drive the change, permissions to even make mistakes, be supportive and empathetic, rather than blame / criticize. Still encourage the behavior to think different, enable, tap into the teams creativity through gamification and foster this culture. In my experience this is a great way to also engage the team and add value to business.

You can’t define and build a new culture without hands-on let’s do it approach. So yes 1) Define the vision of innovative culture and tie it to the company strategy. 2) Then, concrete create strategic initiatives, but not with vanity metrics tied to the culture but actual end results you want to achieve being innovative. Like “cut cost by 10% or launch 1 new product per quarter”. 3) Then, rally people around these initiatives and tell them to go out and do it. 4) Track your activities, learnings and wins, to encourage new round of the same in 6 months.
