Think of your profile on a platform like LinkedIn as really important real estate for your personal brand. Having a nice headshot (doesn't need to be professional) makes a big difference. You can also stand out with a professional looking banner. Tools like Canva have lots of templates you can use that are just the right size and shape.

In my experience, it takes time and a strategic approach to develop a strong brand in social media, so that other industry experts can notice you. Some key suggestions on the main steps you need to take in LinkedIn: a) Have a clear description (easy to read, short and to the point) concerning your past experience, qualifications, areas of expertise b) Professional and high-quality photo c) Posts that really add value to your audience, showcasing your knowledge and ideas/thoughts on developments in your area/expertise topic d) Make sure your posts are unique, showing your own experiences, ideas and past examples. Write in a clear, concise and simple way. Give practical tips, not theory e) If you have a strong opinion, express it.

Not only this, it is also imperative that you ask the relevant and intelligent questions in order to get noticed. Taking one step back, I would recommend that to reach this level, it is important to be well read and researched. Once you get noticed, you should also learn the art of leveraging these networks.

To Be Valued and Noticed, in my understanding and insight, It's important to focus on 3 factors 1. Be complete 2. Be Relatable 3. Give value add information which solves their issues. Having a complete profile, gives clarity, before you focus a lot on creating your presence pick up people who have the niche in your field replicate arenas which add value to you. To be relatable, understand the problem and put it across with a solution focused mindset, the key here is to give more than you take initially for 2 years. Yes it's not an overnight journey so patience and engagement is very important. Value add information is when you connect with like minded communities that support your purpose. Growth and visibility are inevitable.
