We need to consider this action as the foundation of effective collaboration. Without common goals aligned with the organizational objectives, the team will fail to form, much less perform. Whether you use SMART or OKRs, the ability to communicate effectively, track progress, and adjust as needed to reach the goals is paramount to success.

Set TEAM goals- By Team goals i mean, there must 1 or more goals that shows up on every member of the team's objectives. This would help everyone keep their focus on that one goal in addition to the personal goals they would all have Ensure clarity of goals- Showing clearly how everyone goals ultimately stacks up aligns to the Team's major goal

Providing regular feedback is so critical, but often the constructive feedback is left unsaid. This does an injustice to both parties. There are great courses on LinkedIn Learning for delivering feedback, which may be helpful in times of a more complex situation that needs to be addressed.

Providing feedback is crucial. Without it, no one learns. The methods of feedback should be considered on a case-by-case basis as different people experience different based on their own level of Emotional maturity and intelligence. I would suggest the team participate in learning events to help grow the overall EQ as a team and establish a paradigm for providing feedback that supports the team dynamic.

As a leader, I used shout outs in the team all hands meetings every week. What I observed was higher levels of collaboration across the entire team. We still had some issues based on personalities. I equate a culture of learning and innovation to the organization supporting a growth mindset. when an organization values the learning created by failures as a positive vs a negative, the people are able to lean into change without fear and create higher levels of learning for themselves and the organization.

Team collaboration works best when team members have understanding and empathy. All the other points are essential, but there's an old saying about spending a day in someone else's shoes! Assuming that the team is cross functional (as these are best at effecting change) I encourage everyone to go to gemba and really understand the impact and involvement of others. Its eye opening and creates much better buy-in and understanding which in my experience drives performance.

Do not avoid providing feedback! It may be hard to deliver in some cases, but the long-term affects are much more detrimental. As a manager, providing timely feedback is critical.
