In my experience, the best thing to do is to visualize the connection and as you're celebrating the small victory, connect that directly & explicitly to longer term objectives. In most strategies, there is a "road map of successes" that you need to follow. Make sure that the small victory is on that road map.

The the road to victory can be long and hazardous, even when it's at work. It's important to celebrate small wins as you're going along the road to success. It's also important to take this opportunity to remind the team about the long-term vision and goals. Why? Well, endorphins are high when celebrating wins. Therefore this would be a great time to revisit the long-term goals. The team will definitely be more perceptive towards the fact that they might still be a long journey ahead.

Small victories should be celebrated publicly and pronouncedly. This helps to solidify that the team is heading in the right direction. Success is made up of many victories and few setbacks. There are two broad ways that you need to communicate. One is to the entire team as a whole. It's important to articulate the vision mission and goals of the entire team. How it aligns with the company vision. How the team as a whole can help the company achieve its goals. The second way is on an individual level. Everyone is eager to know whether the work they do is meaningful or not. You can help this by linking their individual work and tasks to the broader vision of the company.

To communicate clearly to your team during a milestone celebration while aligning with the long-term strategy, acknowledge the achievement and connect it to the bigger picture. Set future goals, show how smaller victories lead to long-term success, encourage continued efforts, and provide clear guidance on how their work contributes to the organization's long-term vision. This approach keeps the team motivated and focused on future objectives.

What are your teams culture and values? Have you taken the time to sit down with the team to articulate how the team will work together? How will we deal with conflicts? And how will we recognise achievements? Identifying the correct culture and values of the team is super important before you start any big project. However, remaining people of the culture and values and reinforcing them are equally important. If this is not done, then people will tend to forget what sort of culture the team agreed to establish. If this is the case, then the team can easily get off track.
