Your volunteer consistently goes above and beyond. How do you keep them motivated to excel even further?

I agree to this , recognizing volunteers efforts really does communicate to volunteers that they are an essential and integral part of the organization. When volunteers feel connected to the organization they are more likely to continue with their involvement in projects.

Recognize their efforts publicly; it's very rare that people get acknowledged publicly in front of their peers for a job well done. Make the recognition specific; telling someone a great job is good but telling someone how they made it a great job is better Take some time and think about your recognition and make it authentic and genuine; one of the most satisfying and rewarding moments and people's work is to know that their specific skill set was/is an asset to the cause: Especially as a volunteer

As long as you are alive and capable, it is each human's responsibility to contribute to the overall well being of themselves and others. It is the only thing that will keep us going even when everything around us may fall apart. God intended us to fullfill some kind of purpose and we do not know entirely what that may entail so do good, be kind and continue to be better as each day is given to us. JD

When a volunteer consistently goes above and beyond to exceed expectations, you acknowledge and commend the effort publicly to encourage the volunteer and spur others to rise up to the challenge. Give rewards such as hand shakes, lunch dates, little gifts or put their picture on the wall for a period of time.

Yes. I agree. Especially if this is within a group setting. We needed a new chair for our board. We talked about the needs and honestly talked about the challenges and skills needed to meet those challenges. The group surfaced the challenge and the best person to lead the board through those challenges. It was a magical moment.

Being a volunteer comes with so many responsibilities. Encouraging volunteers who go above and beyond like they are been paid huge sums of money to do the job is worth it. For every praise 👏🏼 given, there is always the opportunity to give more, give more, be more.

I encourage open communication at all times about all things. They know that my door is always open. I expect them to tell me their ideas and suggestions.

Je suis tout à fait d'accord. Le sentiment d'avoir déjà tout accompli conduit au laxisme, mais le sentiment qu'il y'a encore des défis à relever, renouvelle la détermination du volontaire. Chacun et chacune désire toujours terminer sur une note de victoire ou de succès, et non sur l'échec. Les nouveaux défis c'est comme les rêves à atteindre. C'est le carburant qui alimente notre moteur dans notre ascension vers des réalisations plus élevées.

Une chose que j'ai compris c'est que chacun après avoir travaillé à une tâche avec dévouement, conmence à analyser et à voir comment les choses pourraient s'améliorer. Il est donc important de leur permettre de faire des propositions, et ce fait de se sentir écouté et estimé. Une telle personne n'irait pas contre ses propres idées, mais travaillera avec acharnement à les voir réussir. Cependant je crois qu'il faut bien encadrer la flexibilité pour ne pas laisser le volontaire tomber dans le laxisme, du fait du sentiment d'être déjà arrivé.

We are a small organization. We do not have enough staff to worry about scheduling. My people come and go as they please. I always thank them for their hard work. Also if we don't see them for awhile, I always check on them so they know how important they are to me and the organization.

When you have a high-performing volunteer, implementing the suggested action plan can both motivate and inspire further growth. Challenging them to give input into the organization and/or common good can be very satisfying especially when their best practices suggestions are implemented. It’s definitely a win-win situation for everyone.

Constructive feedback is very crucial and needed for volunteers to have because this helps to make corrections to prevent a noticed mistake from repeating itself. Volunteers learn from mistakes to do better and improve on themselves.

I always compliment my staff and volunteers! They need to know that the are a major part of the success of our non-profit. Give positive feedback and a lot of encouragement to think and work on their own.

By fostering a sense of community in volunteer networks, this demonstrates a welcoming environment which is more likely to draw people back to the experience. In volunteering, people are usually willingly and compassionately offering their time and other resources to a purpose they feel compelled to be a part of. Therefore, promoting a hospitable, interpersonally supportive community will encourage both retention and recruitment of quality service leaders who value intentional relationships.

The one thing I was determined to do when I took the director job was to make sure everyone is treated as family with love and respect. The volunteers know the can come to me about anything, they know I will help them in any way. I also know I can expect the same from them.

We try to capture what motivates students to volunteer with our programs and a common motivator is to build their leadership skills. We offer optional further training opportunities to students and ensure we link them to particular skills. We have also developed a workshop focused on identifying the skills they have grown as a volunteer, how to include this in their resume and how to demonstrate their experience when applying for roles.

Seeking opportunities to be a volunteer not only adds to one's skill but helps in improving one's entire self to be better in rendering help. I see this as a way of self-investing in one life as a whole

People are motivated by mission. Outstanding service has a direct link to mission and impact. I want to reinforce how their above-and-beyond contributions - time, effort, skill, strengths, and money - are making a real difference because of it. I want to celebrate that with them and notice how their input differentiates our success and the status quo.

For me, I appreciate TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY. Anyone who gives their time, skills and resources and is committed to your cause without expecting anything in return deserves the aforementioned reward. More so, volunteers who go over and beyond deserve access to opportunities that can help them scale up their business, improve career prospects and sustainable networking opportunities. Ensure you understand what your volunteer needs, everyone has a loophole of needs and it’s your duty to find it and help them fill it when they are going extra mile for you

One thing I have found helpful is the creative use of debriefing after every major accomplishments to work and walk through with volunteers in understanding how their efforts and contributions to the goals and objectives also assist the volunteers refine their skills and get their dreams interpreted in the process of helping others interpret their own dreams.

Connect what they are doing, in specific terms, to your purpose. Make the connection between what they are doing connects to the specific goals of the operational plan, to the strategic objectives, and to the mission and purpose. Making this connection specific, and on a consistent basis, can produce greater commitment and motivation.
