It keeps you involved in the conversation, and one can have deep insights from it, apart from that the speaker also feels valued and overall the communication is very effective. Most often one needs to be cross functional in the current business requirement but, in the path to achieve that we try to multitask, and lose our focus. There is a term known as "context switching" which refers to the time we lose while we switch between tasks, which affects our efficiency a lot. Rather than multi-tasking we should focus on one work at a time, maintain our focus and then move ahead to the next one. It will help us do our work better and additionally with time, we will be able to do the same task in a lesser amount of time, as with focus we understand our work better.

In fact it is very important, sometimes body language speaks louder than our words. When sharing a presentation, discussion or any activity, even when you are just listening in a video call or interview your body language like hand movement/smile/ expressions can convey a lot of information regarding your interest and confidence level.
