In my first attempt to create a startup, I wanted to create something that would be useful for everyone, which led to little utility for many. The longer you are in the market, your knowledge becomes more specific, and your network of contacts also expands, and you learn not to change niches just for one job. You should stay on the same track for a while to truly understand the pain points you are trying to solve for your customer.

To create a portfolio that grabs attention, you must think in unconventional ways. I don't believe that programming a to-do list today will land you a job as a full-stack developer. The same goes for blockchain; creating basic apps doesn't make you a great developer. However, building relationships while creating those applications and working in a team is what will give you more expertise. For this, hackathons are very useful. Remember, it's people who create value, and value is what attracts more people. Don't expect the project you created on a Monday to bear fruit by Friday. You need to allow all the concepts you learn to settle in your way of thinking so that you can compose them, and with that knowledge, create something bigger.

#3, #4, and #5 in this LinkedIn list could probably just be combined into 1 bullet point. "Pick a lane". After you've learned the skills needed and built a banger portfolio, you'll have three options: 1. Get employed by a company 2. Work as a freelancer 3. Make a startup In blockchain, there are a lot of start-ups because there is a lot of things that need improvements! If you REALLY can't get hired, then just start a company that fixes the issues you're running into! The only way you'll run into issues though, is by building your portfolio. Remember, any time you run into something painful, that's a potential opportunity to make it better. The big don't eat the little, the fast eat the slow.

Whilst building your portfolio, do not neglect networking and actively engage with fellow professionals, attend industry events, and leverage online platforms to expand your network. By cultivating meaningful connections and demonstrating your expertise within your network, you increase your visibility and credibility as a blockchain professional. These relationships can lead to referrals, collaborations, and new client opportunities. Remember to nurture your network by offering value, sharing insights, and maintaining regular communication. Building a robust network takes time and effort, but the rewards in terms of client acquisition and career advancement can be substantial in the dynamic world of blockchain.

Make it so to do more, you have to think less by using knowledge management tools like Notion or Obsidian. Your learning path is what makes you unique. If you have an engineering background, use it. If you have an art background, use it. But keep it organized to get the most out of it.

If you're starting from the third world like I did, it will be easier for you thanks to international web3 salaries, but don't lose your bearings. If you're in this, it's not to earn millions in your local currency or in your own token. Think ahead, don't lose sight of cash flow, and never stop saving for the future, if you are here it's for your family, not only for you. The game changes constantly, and you must be prepared.

Set up a separate business bank account to manage your finances and track income and expenses related to your blockchain development projects. Consider hiring an accountant or using accounting software to handle invoicing, tax filings, and financial reporting. Establish clear pricing structures and payment terms with your clients to ensure timely payments and avoid cash flow issues.

Definitely the future in blockchain is endless. Already a lot of countries have even introduced blockchain for students to have degrees. In not far future there would be a rise in blockchain developers. Every company would be looking for people who can upgrade their company. Talent and skills will play a huge role. If you are looking the scope in this industry start your learning from the moment.

No matter what career you pick, you'll always need this step, but it's especially true in blockchain. The game changes, fast. First, there was Truffle, then Hardhat, and now Foundry. There was UniswapV2, then V3, and V4 is coming out. Chainlink has new services launched every year. Now you need to think about the different security properties of L2s. In 2021, no one fuzzed or did formal verification, etc. The game changes. You always have to be keeping up and constantly learning. Try to set aside time every month or week to learn something new.
