Depends on for what purpose you are building. I and other engineers have been in continuous talk. There are two types of engineers; One who can get your done in a rapid pace, another who can think deep and execute it in different pace. Every team requires both types of engineers. One can assess their skill likewise. Depending on the product/project, the assessment could be different. A team will consist of frontend, backend, DevOps, QA and designers. One can use different process to assess their technical skill. Since, one has to work on the team, their skill regarding the communication, team work too should be important.
