Make sure your budget aligns with your production, don't ask for millions for a few weeks shoot in your neighbourhood. Include dates, when do you expect to shoot and release your production. Make it authentic. It is important to know who to approach for the genre you are making, so do a proper research. Also, ask yourself why do you want to make the movie, and find the real answer before approaching a producer. We don't have time to waste, so make sure you are ready for this step.

This is an excellent point. Too many writers/directors/producers as so firmly planted in their idea that they immediately reject any feedback or suggestions. Some of the most powerful adjustments to my storylines have come from others. We have one perspective, but others are looking from a completely different direction.
