You're eager to prove your worth at work. How can you show your boss the value you bring to the table?

Start with finding out what they value would be a useful place to start. It is easier to do something, if you know what that something is. This step may require building trust depending on the organization's culture.

Metrics in a 1-pager are key. Create a Slide that highlights your accomplishments using metrics. Most organizations are numbers driven. For example, "I was responsible for coordinating five team training sessions that required cross-functional collaboration across teams". Also share your development (volunteer, not just required). Show the passion that you have with regard to continuing on the path to success. Show your boss that you are willing to participate outside of the scope of your regular duties, while showing up strong in your required duties. Ask them where you can make improvements. It might also be helpful to ask for resources, and share your interests.

In my experience show thst you can work under crisis. I have also found that you can look at different problems that the organization is having and offer some creative solutions.

Looking at a problem from a "glass half full" perspective is crucial to business success. I am a firm believer in pivoting. Change is essential, especially when managing challenges. Often, "walking backward" in the problem can often highlight the solution. Be empowered to share the "what if" solutions with your senior leaders. They will listen.

I often find that writing your thoughts down (as disorganized as they may seem) and then arranging them in a sequence that other people can understand works. The process of getting things off of your mind and onto the paper or keyboard is important because when attempting to create a story without first having all of the fact, things become blurred and unclear. It is important that your reader understands (basic Language Arts) Who, What, When, Where, How & Why. If your writing does not answer all of these questions, then we have to go back to the drawing board and make certain that we have covered any lingering questions that our peers, or senior leaders may have.

Collaboration is the key to staying clear of burnout. Can you do it all? Probably. Should you? Absolutely not. Learn how to collaborate on large tasks so that the team wins, and you win collectively, and gracefully. One burned out team member cannot support another project of they have exhausted all of their power in one area. Make certain that you are engaging others when taking on large projects.

Ask you team members, as well as your senior leadership how you can assist them, right? Wring! Tell them that you can help, and tell them very specifically what you can contribute in order to assist them with their projects. Make sure that they know that you have talents that extend beyond just your scope of work. The performance metrics change once the team knows your value.
