Ask yourself the following questions: 1. Is it ugrent? Yes/No 2. Is it important? Yes/No Based on the answers you should decide whether you should work on it immediately or propose to be done the next day (in the next iteration, etc.). Moreover, you can decide who should be responsible for such task. For instance, if some of your colleagues had 3 days off, it could be some of them responsible for such task.

1) Prioritize Tasks: Identify urgent tasks and focus on high-priority work, while deferring or delegating less critical tasks to minimize extended hours. 2) Communicate Boundaries: I’d discuss the situation with my supervisor or team, making it clear that while I'm willing to be flexible, regular overtime isn't sustainable in the long run. 3) Time Management: Schedule work hours more strictly, and ensure that I allocate time for personal commitments, even if that means adjusting the work schedule temporarily. 4) Use Breaks Wisely: Take small, regular breaks to recharge, preventing burnout and maintaining productivity when I do need to work outside usual hours.

Balancing work and personal life is essential and should be a core part of our culture at both personal and organizational levels. Everyone should feel empowered to maintain that balance. However, unexpected work demands can arise, and in those moments, demonstrating loyalty to the organization is important. Being willing to go the extra mile fosters teamwork and commitment to our shared goals. It’s crucial to approach each situation with flexibility and an open mind. By assessing the context and communicating openly about expectations, we can navigate challenges while honoring our personal lives. Ultimately, finding this balance strengthens both individual well-being and our dedication to the organization.

A few key variables include: - your level of responsibility within the organization - your level of passion for the mission - your level of trust/connection with leadership If any one of these areas is high, then your approach should be - tackle then contain. Take care of the demands, then work to identify the root cause of spillover and address that to prevent/limit future spillover. If none of these areas are high, then it might be time to look for a new position somewhere else. With responsibility, a meaningful mission, or good leadership spillover may be unavoidable and a crucial part of your role. Otherwise, this kind of repeated pattern could indicated an imbalanced work environment, and it's simply best to leave.
