I’d reassure the client that those features aren’t gone forever—just postponed—and show them a concrete plan for when and how we’ll add them later. This way, they know the project is still on track, just evolving step by step toward the full vision.

In extreme situations where deadlines are changed, this may happen but you still cannot compromise on the quality. Firstly communicate the shortcomings clearly, along with the reasons, while being accountable for all of it. If this has happened due to any issue from your side, then don’t hesitate to offer some discounts to retain the client in the long term.
