Be curious. Diversity only improves a room if you explore differences and ask who else needs to be in the room to cover all perspectives. Equity only exists when everyone is given a voice. Inclusion only lives in a space where authenticity is welcomed. Each of these things is essential to the creative process. If a participant in a songwriting session, marketing strategy discussion, or really any group does not feel a sense of belonging in that room, then the resulting work will not deliver at its highest potential. It's everyone's responsibility to build that environment so others can shine in their uniqueness.

In an ideal world, inclusivity and diversity will no longer be an issue, since they will be instinctively implemented. In the meantime, as we still have work to do to make the music industry more inclusive, we can start by fostering open communication and respect to cultivate diverse perspectives. We can also actively seek out musicians from varied backgrounds and genres, and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels heard. You can encourage collaboration across different styles and skill levels, implement inclusive practices or regularly check in with team members to address concerns and improve the space.

It's about getting to the winning idea. Don't be afraid to throw out ideas, avoid "walling" ideas and try to flow them instead. Comfort is big. Most importantly make it "FUN". Let's get excited about doing something great together, excited to share ideas and remove the pressure from the room.
