In my experience managing sports events over the past few 12 years, I found it useful to apply the principles of stakeholder management using Mendelow's matrix as a guide to create a conducive environment within the event and mitigate any issues that might arise in the workplace. Conflict is handled in the privacy of the conflicting parties swiftly with a reminder on the importance of the role each member plays to contribute to the achievement of the objective. Anything that needs an escalation is factored in in a timely manner to reduce the impact of a team member's absence thus ensuring that the event can go on as conflict is being resolved at a higher level.

Appoint an unbiased conflict resolution specialist to manage disputes when they arise. Have team-building exercise sessions frequently to develop social bonds and encourage cooperation. Use a web-based project managerial system to enhance openness and responsibility. Develop action plans to guide management in resolving different potential conflicts. Keep in mind that addressing the root cause of team dynamics is often a more effective solution, than the quick fix of overwhelming logistical problems.
