Any profession concerning data is a lucrative one int present day and age, and if you are passionate about it then its even better. Journalism involving data analysis would include strategic sectors like Stock Market analysis, Financial Trends, Market Analysis, Socio-Economic Policy Analysis. The only way is rigorously separate advertising from reality. However it's not saying that you should discourage positive change even if initially is marginal.
