The "Buck Stops Here" Pressure: When a breach happens (and it will), it's your responsibility, no matter who made the mistake. Can you handle that? I realize becoming an executive is a different skill set altogether.

Executive path is overall governance of cyber security strategy the organization has accepted and it focus based on business goals and achieving the security overall. This path is based for a person who completed around 15yrs of experience in technical track and then reach to an executive level. My personal understanding it fits for a person who has knowledge/experience on GRC with leadership qualities.

There are too many technical leads already. If you want real challenges, take up an executive role. Remember, this won't be easy, however the satisfaction you will get by dealing with people, and being able to solve their problems is unsurpassable. The technical leads fall into the trap of believing that technology can solve all problems in cybersecurity, but the fact of the matter remains that cybersecurity is a people issue. Most technical leads fail to develop interpersonal skills to become an executive. They remain in their comfort zone, and hence unable to progress in their careers. Given a choice and an opportunity, become an executive. Sure, it may be stressful at times, but then so is life!
