Focus on the future, not the failure and pain. I have a personal trainer who supervises my exercise/fitness goals three times a week. What he does to me hurts, but that dims quickly when I see better fitness, energy and function, and the promise of more. In the same way, criticism from a capable leader hurts, but I need to seize on the great benefits of learning and implementing what will bring me greater success and satisfaction in my career/healthcare/vision/income, and how my greater skills will result in better patient outcomes and in the big picture, a better world.
