Encourage continuous education through any means possible whether that be training, community participation (e.g. open source projects), certification, conferences or higher education. There is sometimes a perceived pressure that once you find yourself in a leadership postion you must have "all of the answers all of the time." Anyone giving this a moment of thought will realise this is an impossible goal. A better approach is to be open with your teams around some of the struggles of leadership and create an environment of psychological safety in which your teams can thrive. High performing teams excel in cultures of psychological safety and it is within the power of every leader to contribute to this through authentic and honest leadership.

Your actions in staying informed and calm set the standard for your team’s behavior and work ethic. True leadership in cybersecurity is about embodying the principles you want to see in your team.

There are bubbles of learning that directly enhance growth in the current position. For example, if you are a SOC analyst, look for opportunities to expand your current role. If there are none available, pursue certifications such as the Certified SOC Analyst or the GIAC certified incident handler. If you are maxed on those try your hand at HTB, THM, TCM paths. And if those are maxed out take on traditional classes from colleges or universities. There are other outlets that offer education such as Cybrary, Coursera, and Udemy.
