If history is anything to go by, lots of leaders will, unfortunately, will be tempted by the false allure of speed over mature thinking in a rounded way of potential harms and their mitigation. Some of these leaders who prioritise speed over ethics will succeed in the short term but AI is a marathon and not a sprint. Winning in one or two initial sprints is soon forgotten if someone loses the marathon. Ethical leaders have a clear vision and purpose with clear boundaries. They win the marathon.
