In the field of Education there are several facets of which teaching is one. This particular segment of education is highly demanding and requires all hands on deck so to say. Volunteers are often sought after for the purpose of providing assistance to the classroom teachers. The services may be to assist students in their sit work, make photocopies for the class, read to students and the list goes on and on. What is in it for the volunteers ? I will mention one inherent and an important benefit to the volunteer which is satisfaction. Knowing that the students are being successful in part due to the assistance being provided is indeed fulfilling and rewarding for the volunteer involved. If you can please pitch in.

While shedding light on the benefits being reaped by volunteers in the field of education, I will revisit my own experience. I studied Electrical Engineering for a starter. Working for Federal Pioneer Electrics then many moons ago, I was afforded flexible working hours on some days which allowed me to be able to volunteer sometimes. I chose to work with teachers from my son’s school. I eventually fell in love with teaching profession and I joined the formed cohort of educators. With all volunteers working as a team, the cohort was fruitful and we all accomplished our mission of becoming teachers. You know what, I had never looked back since and no regrets to boot. Volunteerism pays and I am a proud living proof.
