Here's how you can enhance your personal brand as a leader through networking.

Clarify your vision for your personal brand as a leader. What do you want to be known for? How do you want others to perceive you? Your vision should align with your values and reflect your unique strengths and talents. Once you have a clear vision, break it down into specific, measurable objectives that you want to achieve, if these objectives should be challenging yet achievable and aligned with your overall vision and aspirations!

My primary goal in networking has always been to show up as who I am. I like to understand where people are, and how I can I help them. My passion is coaching, mentoring and supporting, so I’m always on the lookout for an opportunity to supply meaningful connections to others-who can help them move their ball forward? I’m always, for good or bad, who I am. Pink hair, smile, sometimes irreverent in my humor. I try to put people at ease to get them to open up. How can I make a personal connection? Do we both like dogs? Do we both not like coffee? It’s more important to me that they remember who I am, and that I’m friendly or not threatening vs. what I do for a living. The rest will come if it’s the right connection.

No need 2 put on airs or pretend 2 be someone you're not. Share your stories, crack a joke, dont try to hide your quirks. Authenticity is attractive. It naturally appeals to folks who align with who you are, and the sets the stage for real relationships.

Authenticity in leadership is not just about being true to oneself, but also about being true to others. It's about creating a space where others feel valued and heard. As a leader, it's important to remember that your actions and words can have a profound impact on those around you. So, always strive to lead with authenticity and empathy, and you'll find that your personal brand will naturally reflect these values.

When COVID hit, I had to get really good at fostering connections with strangers over Zoom, and find an effective way to accelerate the virtuous circle of "Know-Like-Trust-Refer". One of the best ways I did that was to join an established and reputable online and paid (this is key) networking group that put me in the same circles as the business leaders I was hoping to build alliances with. The reason this works so well is that the strict candidate acceptance criteria, and also price tag, weed out the "non-serious" networkers that abound online.

Utilize online platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, and professional networking sites to expand your reach and connect with a broader audience. Share valuable content related to your expertise, industry trends, and leadership insights to showcase your knowledge and expertise. Engage with other professionals by commenting on their posts, participating in discussions, and joining relevant online communities.

This is great advice, I would like to add, that in my experience helping others is the best way to help yourself. The universe gives back 100 fold, so advise, mentor and give feedback whenever you can.

Transform linkedIn from a passive scroll fest to an active and engaging remote network. It won't happen from waiting. The secret is to actively seek leadship enthusiats, connect with them and engage through the posts (i.e. comments). This is the fastest method to increase your network's reach. In no time, your physical network (colleagues, bosses, friends and family) will notice the change and begin to speak to you about it, which is a new opportunity to continue you leadership networking.

Maintain a consistent and cohesive personal brand message across all communication channels. Ensure that your online profiles, elevator pitch, and networking interactions reflect your leadership style, values, and expertise. Consistency helps reinforce your personal brand and makes it easier for others to understand and remember what you stand for as a leader.

Share Relevant Content: Share articles, blog posts, or other content that you think might be of interest to your contacts. This demonstrates your thoughtfulness and keeps you on their radar.

Networking isn't about collecting business cards. It’s about building relationships. After meeting someone new, don't ghost them. Send them a quick email, connect on social media, do a virtual coffee, etc.

Send personalized messages expressing your appreciation for the connection and expressing your interest in staying in touch. Nurture relationships over time by periodically checking in, sharing relevant updates, and offering assistance or support whenever possible.

There are many opportunities to expand your horizons, even if you're not the networking type. You don't have to go to big conventions to start creating a network. Start with a simple meet-up and go for the subject matter. You'll meet new people there that already share your interests. That makes it much easier to connect.

I think it’s important to build your own tribe or community where you can not only empower and support each other but also share learnings, laugh and also cry together. But remember take care of your wellbeing.

To enhance your personal brand through networking, you need to get in touch with strangers and should feel comfortable doing so. Therefore, you should 1️⃣ be self-confident You are a (soon-to-be) leader and have your story to tell. At least you should be able to tell others what you have accomplished so far or what you are up to. 2️⃣ learn how to reach out to people you don't know. There are obviously multiple ways to do it. You could ask for advice or give someone a compliment with a question. But here is my favorite: On network events just ask people if you can join their group/table. Usually people won't reject that because no one wants to be rude. Than just wait - after a while, they'll involve you in the conversation.

Authenticity is crucial for establishing a strong personal brand. It's important to be genuine, transparent, and true to your values and beliefs as a leader. People are more likely to connect and engage with someone they see as sincere and trustworthy. It's an ongoing journey of self-improvement and strategic communication.
