En Mexico utilizamos lo reglamentado por ACI, NTC de concreto, acero, IMCA y algunos otros para saldaduras y madera normalmente NTC y para la correcta aplicacion de los espectros sismicos tenemos el manual sismico de CFE que tienes espectros muy variados que van desde edificacion regular e irregular hasta puentes y otros tipos de estructuras. Para dar enfasis en esto los manuales para un recien egresado son de gran ayuda ya que con el tiempo y experincia vuelve tu trabajo mas economico, atractivo y de mayor seguridad por esto lo importante es estar en constante estudio y empleando lad estrategias continuamente.

Hola en realidad no tengo mucha experiencia en edificaciones grandes pero en cambio he diseñado varios proyectos a nivel casa habitacion, en mi experiencia me a resultado facil solo usar excel para los calculos ya que un programa como de los que se hablan de estructuras elevan mucho el costo de un proyecto por lo tanto no lo hace tan rentable, podriamos parchar o hackear los programas pero no es el punto de esto, para el nivel en el que trabajo se necesita economizar en esto por lo tanto no recomendaria mas de lo necesario incluso CFE que es la que regula los calculos sismicos de Mexico nos da un programa gratuitos el cual podemos utilizar a un gran nivel viendo espectros sismicos, fuerza cortante lateral y demas.
