Really the most important element. If they’re not engaged, you might as well talk to a mirror. Focus on THEIR needs. It’s all about what and how you can contribute to THEM. If shyness, anxiety, etc. are in your way: 1. toastmasters.org. It’s a nonprofit organization that teaches public speaking skills through a worldwide network of clubs. 2. Take an Acting or Improv class (public speaking is, after all, a performance). 3. Being able to make effective presentations is a necessary skill. If your fears are that deep-seated, get therapy. Are you willing to do whatever it takes to be as effective as you possibly can in service to your target audience? As Muhammad Ali, said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”
