Here are some quick tips for inclusive dialogue: ➡️Never assume someone’s pronouns, religion, sexuality/marital status, etc. More than once I’ve seen an individual asked about their wife/husband, with the assumption of a heteronormative relationship, only for the individual to disclose their spouse is same sex. This is not inclusive and does not foster a sense of belonging. ➡️Model active listening and open dialogue in a safe environment. This includes encouraging individuals to speak up when they’ve identified inequitable behaviors. ➡️Accept corrections respectfully. You can learn and grown from any mistakes made. This is a key part of emotional intelligence. Be a part of creating a space where diversity and equity thrives!
